We were back at Liversedge again for three events on Sunday 17 June. As always we were made welcome and this time chairman Gary Meynel played and won his round robin mens event after winning all his games.
The 12u girls event was won by Vanessa Mueller after playing Katherine Bentzen in the final.
The 12u boys final was between first seed Harry Abel and David Dabrowski with Harry coming out on top 4-3(2) 4-1
It was a very busy day with lots of competitive matches in 3 full 16 compass draws as well as an 8 draw for the women. Players came from far and wide with 3 from Scotland. We were pleased that lots of people who have not been to Chapel A before were saying ‘what a nice club you have here’. Its great to hear.
The day started off with the 14u boys and closely followed by the 14U girls as we had at least 8 courts available all day. At one stage there were 12 courts being used for the tournament.
Despite a poor forecast the weather held out for most of the day. There was heavy rain for about an hour but Chapel A’s courts play well during and after rain so we were able to restart as soon as the rain eased. We also used the indoor courts as back up for lots of games.
In the 14U boys top seed Will Jepson came through winning 4-1 4-1 against regular Leo Van in the final
The 14U girls was won by Emily Edwards the third seed against top seed Rachel Pang in a close final. 4-3(2) 1-4 10-5
The mens event was won by John Paul Ranson 4-1 4-0 against Ruari Mclennan. John having come through a tight first round match against Daniel Hanley 10-8 in the final tie break set. Daniel went on to win the consolation side of the draw.
In the ladies it was the same two players in the final as the girls event with the same outcome but even closer this time. Emily winning 4-2 1-4 10-8 against Rachel this time.
David Lloyd club hosted the latest round of the West Yorkshire Adult Series with a big entry again for the mens event and sadly a number unable to get into the draw.
The outdoor acrylic courts were in use for the tournament and there was a full 16 compass draw played. Scott Howard the 4th seed came through in a super tight final against Richard Bancroft 4-3(4) 3-4(4) 10-7.
Chiara Basset won the Ladies final against Lisa Caprelli
There was one event allocated for the venue on the day by the LTA a Grade 4 10U mixed competition. There was a full 16 compass draw and the winner was Taylor Aitcheson with runner up Toby Grant. Jay Wheeler Roberts came through to win on the consolation side of the draw.
